On Friday, the Valspar Championship concluded their “Paint The Town Green” Charity Caravan, which incorporated visits to 25 charities around the Tampa Bay area, by announcing the 2024 tournament generated $1.36 million for more than 90 Tampa Bay area charities.
The total represents an increase of more than $150,000 from 2022 and brings the total charitable donations since 1977 for by Copperhead Charities, the tournament’s host organization, to over $51 million.
“This has been a week that has truly brought home the message about why we do this,” says Rondé Barber, Co-General Chair of the tournament who personally visited many of the charities along with Co-General Chair John Astrab. “The people we met who operate these charities are inspiring and their clients are so grateful. The organizations run a gamut that includes medical, youth, veterans, educational and others. We hope everyone will check out our social media to learn more about our beneficiaries.”
“So many people contributed to what we were able to do this week, starting with the 130,000 fans who attended the tournament, our nearly 400 sponsors and our 2,000 volunteers” says Tournament Director Tracy West. “Many of our Board of Directors and other Copperheads, along with our staff members, made these visits. It only left us wanting to be able to do more in the future and fired us up to produce an even more successful tournament in 2025.”
The week-long PGA TOUR event concluded on March 24, with Peter Malnati claiming victory on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor.
