Charitable Overview

2020 Tournament Charitable Results

The Valspar Championship has a long history of supporting charity in the Tampa Bay area with now more than $45 million generated in our history with several recent years in the $2.5 million range. Even though our March tournament was cancelled, our 2020 charitable commitments from prior to the event, including pledges in the Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities program, totaled more than $1.4 million. We were aided in reaching that number by generous donations from a number of PGA TOUR pros including Ryan Palmer, Adam Hadwin, Steve Stricker and others, as well as other TOUR-related efforts. We also were grateful for more than 10,000 meals for the needy donated by the Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation. We are looking forward to returning to a higher level of charitable impact in 2021.

Charitable Organization

The Valspar Championship is operated by the not-for-profit organization, Copperhead Charities, Inc.

More commonly known as the Copperheads, the organization is headed by a volunteer board of Tampa Bay area community leaders and has operated for over 40 years under various tournament names.

The one constant has been a history of successfully generating over $45+ million for charities, primarily in the Tampa Bay area, while also staging the amenities for golf fans to view the best in PGA TOUR® competition on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.

With more than 2,900 volunteers who contribute their time and efforts during tournament week, with community-minded sponsors, with the support of tens of thousands of golf fans each year, the tournament has consistently raised substantial sums both through its Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities program and other targeted donations to groups like Tampa General Hospital, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties, The First Tee, the Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation, Birdies for the Brave and others.

The Copperheads continue to look for enthusiastic new members. For information on the Copperheads, email us at office@thecopperheads.org or call (727) 942-5566 for more information.

Our Federal Tax ID # is 59-2319162.
