Valspar Championship Earns “Best Of” award at PGA TOUR Tournament Meetings
PGA TOUR event honored for “Most Fan-First Event” for 2022-23 season
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA – The Valspar Championship (Palm Harbor, Florida) was honored by the PGA TOUR at the TOUR’s Tournament Meetings on December 7. The 2023 Valspar Championship earned an award for “Most Fan-First Event” at Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead Course).
This is the first time since the 2018-19 season the PGA TOUR has presented a complete roster of tournament awards, due to challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“On behalf of the PGA TOUR, I am thrilled to congratulate the Valspar Championship on being recognized with a ‘Best Of’ award for the 2022-23 PGA TOUR Season,” said PGA TOUR Chief Competitions Officer Tyler Dennis. “After several years of challenges related to the pandemic and its impacts on event operations, I’m pleased we are able to once again celebrate the incredible work all PGA TOUR tournaments have accomplished to elevate the experience for players and fans. Our award winners should be extremely proud to be recognized as top among their peers on TOUR.”
The “Most Fan-First Event” award recognizes the tournament that provides a world-class experience for all fans with services like affordable ticket options, parking and transportation accessibility, food options, amenity stations and social media activation engagement.
In 2023, the Valspar Championship kicked off the week with a welcome video to all fans from General Chair Rondé Barber. The tournament also hosted the Rondé Barber Pro Football Hall of Fame Celebration and welcomed numerous Tampa Bay Buccaneers players throughout the week.
On Saturday, the tournament hosted the “Valspar LIVE” concert with Darius Rucker, which was free to all Saturday ticketholders and attracted more than 15,000 to attend. Other on-site amenities included the “Family Fun Zone” and themed concessions of Frenchy’s Pool Party and Publix Chillounge.
This is the first time the Valspar Championship has been recognized at the PGA TOUR Tournament Meetings as the “Most Fan-First Event.”
“I don’t know if there is an award on the list that we would rather have won,” says Tournament Director, Tracy West. “Ever since Valspar became our title sponsor, we have been dedicated to enhancing the fan experience. We could not have been so honored without their full-fledged commitment to this and the many top-flight activations they have sponsored. With the help of our Valspar LIVE concert act Cole Swindell, we are determined to have another great experience for our fans in March.”
The 2024 Valspar Championship, won this year by Taylor Moore, will be held March 18-24 at Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead Course).
