For Immediate Release: October 1, 2019
Brooks Koepka, who has won four Major Championships in the last three years, will play in the 2020 Valspar Championship on March 16-22.
Tampa Bay’s PGA TOUR event, held on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, will also feature Paul Casey attempting the TOUR’s first three-peat in nearly a decade.
Koepka has been #1 in the Official World Golf Rankings since winning the 2019 PGA Championship. It was his second straight PGA Championship victory and he won the U.S. Open in 2017 and ’18. In the 2018-19 season, he also won the CJ Cup in South Korea and the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and finished second (to 2011 Valspar winner Gary Woodland) in his bid for a three-peat at the U.S. Open.
Casey will now have an opportunity for the first three-peat on the PGA TOUR since Steve Stricker won the John Deere Classic in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Casey was a one-shot winner in both 2018 and ’19. Koepka’s only previous appearance on the Copperhead was in 2014.
