The Valspar Championship, operated by Copperhead Charities, has a history of success shown by over $52 million generated for Tampa Bay charities since its’ inception in 1977; including $1,641,994 in 2025.

Charitable Organization

The Valspar Championship is annually operated by Copperhead Charities. Copperhead Charities’ mission is to operate a world-class professional golf tournament on the PGA TOUR which consistently drives charitable funds into the community, while generating a positive economic impact, promoting the region nationally and internationally, and providing an unforgettable event experience for sponsors, patrons, and volunteers.

Registered in the state of Florida as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, Copperhead Charities consists of 200+ area business and civic leaders, known as The Copperheads. Since 1977, the Copperheads have a history of aiding Tampa Bay area charities through professional golf. Since the inception of PGA TOUR golf in the area, Copperhead Charities has given over $52 million to Tampa Bay charities. Charitable contributions have been generated from the proceeds of various PGA TOUR events known as the JCPenney Classic, Tampa Bay Classic, Chrysler Championship, PODS Championship, Transitions Championship, and now the Valspar Championship.

With more than 2,500+ volunteers who contribute their time and efforts leading up to and during tournament week, community-minded partners, and the support of tens of thousands of golf fans each year, the tournament has consistently raised substantial sums both through Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities and gifting to pillar charitable organizations—Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside, local First Tee chapters, and Tampa General Hospital Foundation through the Home Base Program.
