PGA TOUR Sets Tampa Bay Championship for March 11 - 17

The PGA TOUR announced its 2013 schedule, and the event formerly known as the Transitions Championship, will be played as the Tampa Bay Championship, March 11-17 on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort.

While the tournament name and logo are new, the Tampa Bay Championship will be played with the same $5.5 million purse in its customary date on the schedule – third week of the Florida Swing – as part of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup competition.  The tournament will again be broadcast by NBC Sports,GolfChannel and other PGA TOUR broadcast partners.

Luke Donald, the world’s number one player for much of 2012, is the defending champion.  The tournament has been a full-field PGA TOUR event since 2000, and has been held in the spring since the inception of the FedExCup in 2007.  Copperhead Charties, Inc. organizes the event which has generated nearly $30 million forTampaBayarea charities with various golf events since 1977.  The Copperhead Course was ranked as one of the top 10 courses on the PGA TOUR in a 2012 survey of PGA TOUR members.

Tickets for the 2013 Tampa Bay Championship are now on sale.  Through December 31, good-any-one-day tickets ($20) and weekly ticket books ($50) are available at special significantly reduced prices.  The popular Copperhead Pak and other ticket packages are also now available.
