Robert and Carrie Horne, a husband and wife team who pull double duty at each tournament on the Copperhead, were the first co-winners of the Donald V. Harrison Volunteer of the Year Award.

Each day during tournament week, the Hornes can be found on the 4th hole where for many years they have served as hole captains. In addition, prior to the tournament they devote many hours in helping prepare the merchandise tent.

“They were repeatedly nominated for the award by many of their fellow volunteers,” says Doug Laseter, the tournament’s volunteer coordinator. “They go out of their way to keep in contact with each member of their hole team and they are always cheerful and helpful to the patrons at the 4th.”

The Harrison Award remembers former general chairman Don Harrison and has been awarded since 2008.
